چکیده

The hysteresis area as a function of frequency of the time-varying external electric field—hysteresis dispersion—for ferroelectric Pb~Zr0.52Ti0.48!O3 is measured, and the Monte-Carlo simulation on the hysteresis dispersion for a model ferroelectric lattice is performed too. We demonstrate the scaling behavior of the single-peaked hysteresis dispersion for the two ferroelectric systems, predicting a unique effective characteristic time for the domain reversal. This characteristic time shows an inversely linear dependence on the field amplitude as long as the amplitude is high enough that the reversible domain rotation response is negligible. © 2001 American Institute of Physics. @DOI: 10.1063/1.1384894#

Scaling of hysteresis dispersion in a model spin system

We present a calculation of the magnetic hysteresis and its area for a model continuum spin system based on three-dimensional (F) model with O(N) symmetry in the limit N→` , under a time-varying magnetic field. The frequency dependence of the hysteresis area A( f ), namely, hysteresis dispersion, is investigated in detail, predicting a single-peak profile which grows upwards and shifts rightwar...

Structural evolution and dielectric relaxation behavior of electron-irradiated poly„vinylidene fluoride–trifluoroethylene... 80Õ20 mol% copolymers

The effect of high-energy electron irradiation on poly~vinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene! 80/20 mol % copolymers has been studied in a broad dose ranging from 0 to 120 Mrad. It was found that the copolymers transformed from a normal ferroelectric to a relaxor ferroelectric phase ~RFE! at high electron doses. For copolymers irradiated at the dose above 90 Mrad, they exhibited typical dielect...

Universal scaling and ferroelectric hysteresis regimes in the giant squid axon propagating action potential: a Phase Space Approach

The experimental data for the giant squid axon propagated action potential is examined in phase space. Plots of capacitive and ionic currents vs. potential exhibit linear portions providing temperature dependent time rates and maximum conductance constants for sodium and potassium channels. First order phase transitions of ionic channels are identified. Incorporation of time rates into Avrami e...

A possible mechanism of anomalous shift and asymmetric hysteresis behavior of ferroelectric thin films

We studied theoretically the hysteresis behavior of ferroelectric thin films. The anomalous ferroelectric response is discussed by use of a bilayer model. Electrical conductivities of the films have been taken into account. To model the effects of the inhomogeneity of polarization and permittivity across the interface, the film is assumed to possess a secondary dielectric/ferroelectric phase sa...

Biasing Effects in Ferroic Materials

In this chapter we present an overview of some important concepts related to the processes and microstructural mechanisms that produce the deformation of hysteresis loops and the loss of their symmetry characteristics in ferroelectric, ferroelastic and ferromagnetic systems. The most discussed themes include: aging and fatigue as primary mechanisms of biased hysteresis loops in ferroelectric/fe...
